While summers in the moving industry are always busy, 2021 has been one for the record books. Perhaps this “giant leap” in the number of people moving is due to moves postponed during the pandemic. Maybe it’s a result of cabin fever from quarantining – individuals and families got tired of the same old environment while spending more time at home during COVID and decided a change of scenery was in order. Whatever the reason, despite the persistence of the virus, many people are moving forward with their lives by moving to a new place. And northAmerican is helping them get there.

The Gary Sinise Foundation has been busy this summer as well – actually, they’ve been busy the entire year. After pausing construction of R.I.S.E. homes in 2020 due to the pandemic, the program is back in full swing, with 6 homes completed so far and more planned for this year.

The R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence, Supporting Empowerment) program builds specially adapted smart homes for our country’s most severely wounded heroes, providing them and their families with a “forever” home built to accommodate each heroes’ unique needs. Since its inception in 2011, the Gary Sinise Foundation has helped hundreds of thousands of veterans and their families through a myriad of programs, including completing 72 smart homes through the R.I.S.E. program.

Today, northAmerican agent Oakley Relocation and their driver Michael Miles had the honor of delivering furnishings to the new Southern California home of the latest R.I.S.E. recipient, Navy Petty Officer 2^nd Class Doc Jacobs. Doc is the 6^th R.I.S.E. recipient to move into a smart home this year. As the official moving partner of the Gary Sinise Foundation, the northAmerican network of agents, drivers, crews and office staff have been proudly transporting and delivering furnishings and personal items for 62 R.I.S.E. recipients since 2014. No matter how busy, our dedicated agent family will always find a way no matter what time of year to help these deserving heroes.
