Santa Monica, California Moving Companies
North American Van Lines: The Best of Santa Monica Moving Companies
Located in sunny southern California along the Pacific Ocean near Los Angeles, Santa Monica is a beautiful laid-back paradise with tons to offer new residents. Besides the near-perfect weather, booming business atmosphere and great shopping, dining and attractions, Santa Monica boasts a hip and friendly community.
Santa Monica is a growing city, as well. According to City-Data, Santa Monica's population increased by more than 9 percent between 2000 and 2012. The city is home to a multicultural and diverse populace, so people from all walks of life are welcome here. One thing worth noting is the fact that the cost of living in the area is quite high, but these prices are typical for the greater Los Angeles area, especially locales near the beach. According to a 2012 U.S. Census estimate, there are more than 92,000 residents living in Santa Monica.
Activities and Attractions in Santa Monica
Perhaps the biggest attraction in the city has to be the world-famous Santa Monica Pier, which is the ending destination for historic Route 66 and home to many of the city's best events, including festivals and concerts. Although this pier once served as a practical pipeline in the early 20th century, today it houses a magnificent Ferris wheel, aquarium, restaurants and other thrill rides.
Santa Monica State Beach, which is adjacent to the pier, is a 3-mile stretch of pure Pacific paradise. Here you can find tourists and locals alike running along biking and jogging paths, enjoying views of the nearby Santa Monica Mountain range or learning to surf.
The Third Street Promenade is one of the best shopping areas in all of southern California and a one-stop place for all things retail. For more than 25 years, this stretch of stores has not only been a hotspot for luxury brands, but also a prime location for many of the city's events, including Cinema on the Street in the summer and Winterlit, as well as the city's local farmers market.
